This is how Virkkuri looks like in the author’s hands! I’m holding the book outside of Paloni couple of weeks ago, wearing a self made crochet chain bondage. Check out this blog post about the book release party, post and photo by Paula Hietaranta.

If you still haven’t visited our Masters of Art exhibition in Helsinki, you have 5 days time to go! I recommend visiting, not only because my work is there too, but the old Kruunumakasiini building is worth seeing.
More info about the exhibition here in Helsinki city Travel blog.

Virkkuri has been the most liked book in Finland for over three weeks now! Amazing! Normally I’m a very modest girl, but today I will have some champagne for this wonderful success.

Summer came to Helsinki! Today I sat outside of Paloni crocheting while waiting for Rebecca Clamp gig. She is a Helsinki-based British singer-songwriter. I saw her for the first time, and was totally moved, her songs are so full of emotions!
Paloni is so wonderful place, besides of craft workshops there is a lot of indie concerts. If you are in Helsinki, visit Paloni and meet the fantastic owner Minna.
If you are interested in creative people, then you should pay attention to this article. I interviewed the all-rounder artist Molla Mills, a Finnish girl who will leave you open-mouthed! She has recently published her first book about crochet, VIRKKURI. From Metal Bands logos to the most exciting jewelry, Molla is always full of surprises!
Thank you Marta for this super nice interview!
Have a look at this tiny cutie! It’s my niece Emili in a coral bowler hat I made her while waiting for a train. Bowler hats in adult sizes are sold in Paloni, these small sizes also will be for sale during the summer.
Huge thanks to all book release party visitors too! I got these beautiful flowers, and so much chocolate I could survive for at least a year! I got Ainokainen earrings, tea, liquorice, and a survival package if I end up spending a night somewhere else than home. ;)
Super big thanks for Laitilan Wirvoitusjuomatehdas for Virkkuri book release party drinks! We had everything from sparkling to beer, all made in Laitila, Finland. Thank youuu!!
From Virkkuri book release party, photo by Taru Salokangas. Thank you Laitila for refreshing drinks, Novita for tasty macarons, Minna’s mother Helena for the best bread ever, and my mother Raija for da Lemonpie. ;)
Thank you Taru for lovely blog post!!
The Kurikka newspaper in my home region published this great article about Virkkuri and me yesterday. It’s all in Finnish, so here is a small dictionary; virkkaus = crocheting, käsityö = handicraft, kiitos Kurikka-lehti = thank you, Kurikka newspaper, and Leena! :)

As you might know, Virkkuri was my master’s thesis in Aalto University. We have an annual exhibition for new masters, and this year my work is also shown in the big exhibition in Helsinki, the location is Kruunumakasiinit, Hämeentie 39. Here is a link to MOA website for more information. The exhibition is open daily till 26th of May, visit the place if you’re nearby.

Novita is now selling Virkkuri in their online shop, huraa! If you order it this weekend, 9.-12.5, you can get Virkkuri to your local post office without delivery costs, only in Finland though. Here is a link to Novita online shop. You will need to register to purchase the book, but you can easily do it here.
Hei kaikki, jos liikutte perjantaina Helsingissä, tulkaa poikkeamaan Virkkurin julkkareille Paloniin! Sadetta on luvattu, mutta me juhlimme neljästä ainakin kahdeksaan. Samalla voit tsekata Palonin kevät / kesä-vaatevalikoiman.
You’re very welcome to Virkkuri book release party in Paloni this friday, from 16 till 20, if you happen to be here in Helsinki. Paloni shop will be open the same time, so you have a great chance to check what’s new in the shop as well.
